three stages of opening your mouth
1. Opening your mouth when you’ve heard the lingo, are getting your news at the same time as your neighbour, and your opinion reflects that of the loudest voice you’ve heard.
2. Opening your mouth when you’ve been overwhelmed by just how much “stuff” really exists on the topic, you’re no longer sure who’s right, and you think that a 12 year old girl could probably out-navigate you.
3. Opening your mouth when you no longer care about how much “stuff” really exists on the topic, you understand that a hundred different angles are all pointed at the same objective, and that 12 year old girl can still out-navigate you but can’t monetize.
When you get to the last stage, you find yourself using the same words (or even simpler ones) as you did in the first stage. The difference is that now you appreciate the depth of those words.
The model of the day is… Opinion > Chaos > Knowledge… the average person will avoid the chaos to ensure their opinion remains in tact.
