yeah yeah… we’ll take care of it
After a wonderful commercial comes a bit of a mix up.
Marketing team says to the client, “We’ve got a great idea on how to evolve the brand equity you’ve built through this character. We’re going to make him iconic.”
They pitch the idea and the client says “Okay… I think I get it, but we really like the ear-con… don’t you think we should use it?”
The Account Manager shrugs and reassures them that it’ll make its way into the commercial somehow.
Then the commercial comes out.
Then he realizes that he hasn’t built any momentum. In fact, unless people are paying explicit attention, no one hears the brand anymore. It gets lost in the mess of others 30 seconds before it. A very subtle anything makes a monumental something.
